Resort
In my Wisconsin experience, I have only traveled to one place, and that is Chetek, Wisconsin. My family went to a resort called Oak Grove. You can choose between a cabin or a trailer both with functioning water and electrical. They call it "Glamping", or glamourous camping. The resort offers many amenities such as boats, a playground, basketball, sand volleyball, a shallow end beach, swim dock, and paddle boats so being bored is never an excuse! Oak Grove has never disappointed my family. The owners, Gary and Jane, are some of the nicest people to meet. They check up on how your stay is and ask what they can do to improve it. Wisconsin is and will always be one of my favorite vacation spots. My family has been going up there for 18 years now and we don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Even though it's not luxurious where you're on the beach or having a night on the town, you can relax and enjoy the views.
Things to Do
Chetek is filled with many fun things to discover. You can walk around the tiny town of Chetek and check out the Rod and Gun shop. They supply fish bait and even have contests if you catch BIG fish. You can also check out the local bakery which has delicious homemade treats and my family always makes it a staple in our vacation. Another exciting thing to do is fish. Luckily, Oak Grove is located right on Lake Ojaski so fishing is always available. In years past, the dads of my family, my uncle, grandpa, and dad, will go out on the lake early around 8
and fish until 12. They come up from the dock and show us their catch and go clean the fish. My family has also gone on sunset boat rides. Or we might even decide to fish more at night. At the end of the week, we have a fish fry and fry all or most of the fish caught. It's a fantastic family tradition (see right). Another fun thing to do is spend a day on the lake. You can rent boats at the resort or bring your own. The lake allows watersports such as skiing, tubing, and wakeboarding. My uncle uses his speedboat to pull the kids. As you can see below, it can be somewhat dangerous, but never the less thrilling.
As stated earlier, this place is an annual trip my family goes on every year. I truly call this place a second home from all the people I have met over the years there. I really recommend if you want to spend a vacation relaxing, getting some adrenaline, and spending a lot of time with family. That you come to Chetek, Wisconsin.
